Miracles Are Still Happening

First of all I want to say that I don’t believe anything happens by mere chance. God has a plan for all His children, and sometimes, in the unfolding of His plan He works in mysterious ways. I have seen Him, many times in my life, go to extreme measures to bring about His plan and it has inspired me to view life in a whole new dimension.

Early in 2004, God began to bring thoughts and ideas to my mind to write the manuscript, “Come Home My Son.” I can truly say that I had no plans to write another book, but when God asks us to do something, it is very important for us to be willing vessels. Even so, if we neglect to do our part, He will get the job done.

When I started writing I felt a tremendous urgency in my spirit to finish the manuscript quickly. The finished copies arrived from the Publisher just a couple of months before shoe boxes were placed at the church we attend, from Operation Christmas Child. This is a project to bring a ray of hope to hurting children. We decided to chose the age group (10-14), and in the boy’s box I felt to include a copy of my book, “Come Home My Son.”

Nearly a year passed; I had forgotten all about the shoe boxes, until I received a phone call in September 2005. On the other end of the line I heard a boys voice, in broken English, say, “my name is Alphonse, I call you from Africa. I read your book.” I asked him how he received my book, but the connection was so noisy we had to hang up. I was really puzzled; how did someone in Africa receive my book?

Later when I checked my e-mail messages, I found a long letter written in French, from the young man from Guinea, West Africa, who I had spoken with on the phone. My e-mail address is listed in all my books. I was able to translate his message with the help of the online translator. This young man was eighteen years of age at the time and in Grade eleven. He informed me that one evening when a group of children were going to a church to pick up gifts (shoe boxes placed there by Operation Christmas Child), he was asked to go along. While he was waiting, a box was placed in his hand; it was the box we had filled. He liked all the items but it was the book that meant so much to him.

We communicate often, nearly everyday. It was but a couple of weeks until he asked me to be his Mom. He seeks my council often. I had the honor of telling him about Jesus and the plan of Salvation. We sent him a Bible written in both English and French along with an English and French dictionary. We were also able to send him to school to study English.

One letter he wrote touched me deeply; these are some of the words; “Mom, I will never forget how God brought the two of us together for good. I think of you all the time. I always kept in the bottom of my heart that one day I would be a child of God, so I would finally go to be with Him in heaven. It is the most important decision that I took in my life, because I am an orphan. But thanks to you, I received the Lord Jesus more and more. I request the Lord Jesus that we be together in His kingdom. Your Son, Alphonse, who thinks of you always.”

He wrote a song also, entitled, Oh Mom. The first verses are about his Mom. These are some of the words; “I will never cease thinking of you and telling you that I will never forget you. You do not live anymore but I have your love.” Then he writes; “at the other end of the world there is a Mom who saved me; a Mom who equips me. In spite of the distance that separates us she takes care of me. I thank God for this love she has given me for a long time. She helps me in spite of the distance from Canada to Guinea. This Mom is non other than my Mom, Lilah MacKenzie. I sing about her name for always. I love you Mom.”

I love this young man with all my heart and I am so thankful to my Lord and Savior for bringing him into my life. When He saw the heart of an orphan, who was longing for love. He had compassion for him and had me write the book, “Come Home My Son.” Then, He had the project, Operation Christmas Child, place shoe boxes in the church we attend, so He could perform a miracle. What a miracle it was!! Think about it-what are the chances, with numerous boxes being distributed, that a young man from Africa, eighteen years old, would receive a box, from Blackville, NB. Canada, marked for a boy, age 10-14?

God worked another miracle that I am so thankful for. When we awoke on a Saturday morning, in June 2005, I felt in my spirit to go to Neguac, a town about sixty miles from our home. While there, I felt drawn to a store. When I walked in the clerk told me she just arrived to relieve the owner. While I was browsing she said to me, “do you believe in angels?” I was shocked at first, but assured her that we all have guardian angels.

She began to pour out her heart to me that day. She told me that all hope was gone and she was living with so much pain. Before I left, not knowing if I would ever see her again, I gave her copies of my four books. Two days later I received a call from this beautiful lady. She asked me if I could go down and visit with her; she had something very important to tell me. She said, “I am very lonely and sad and I cry most of the time.” I told her I would go down and that I would pray for her. She said to me; “will I feel joy when you pray?”

When I arrived at her home she told me something that I found difficult to believe. Apparently, on the afternoon when we met for the first time, she was having a very bad day. It was the tenth anniversary of her son’s death; he died at the age of twenty one. She was asking the Lord for a sign to let her know that her son was ok. She informed me that after I left the store she picked up the books to look at them. When she came to “the Blessing of Abraham can Be Yours,” she began to weep. On the cover was a picture of her son, when he was about nine years old.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes, and said, “where did you get my son’s picture?" For a moment I just stared at her; I was speechless!! I explained to her that I only wrote the manuscript; the Publishers did the cover and if the picture on the cover was that of her son, God must have put it there. I asked her if she had a picture of her son so we could compare. She took me upstairs to where she had her pictures stored and when she handed me one of her son, when he was a little boy, I received the shock of my life. He so much resembled the boy’s picture on the book; even his hair was combed the same way.

We talked about many things that afternoon and before we prayed, I said to her; “this is your day to receive a miracle.” She looked at me and said; “I believe it.” When I talked about Jesus, the Great Physician, tears streamed down her face. We joined hands and I prayed for God to restore and heal every area of her life. It was but a few moments before God filled her with the baptism of the Holy Ghost; I heard her speaking in tongues. All I could do was laugh for joy! I watched her countenance change before my eyes; the joy of the Lord was all over her.

This sweet lady has become a very important part of my life also. What a beautiful miracle that God did for her. Just think of it-He had me write the manuscript, “the Blessing of Abraham Can Be Yours.” He had someone at the Publishers do a sketch of this lonely woman‘s son, who had been killed in a car accident. Then, He sent me to her, on the tenth anniversary of his death, to give her a copy of my books. What a miracle!!
